Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter

This one was caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and the Editorial Room was called to asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible! They put in a correction the next day.

Did I read that right?

Yes, I admit it: I borrowed this from an email I received from a friend. What does this have to do with homeschooling? Well, nothing directly, except to reiterate the fact that teaching your children how to edit their own essays and stories effectively is an important skill. Q4U: What’s the funniest typo you’ve ever seen?

  1. My daughter and I were just talking about this after she had read a couple of emails from respected adults that were full of grammatical errors and misspelled words. It's shameful. Some of the funniest stuff we see has to do with horses: sale ads, boarding, breeding, training, etc. People often want to sale their mare that's been bread to a stalyon that was out of another grate stalyon and has been trained to do raining. Check Craig's list for horse related ads and you will be twitching your red pen in agony before reading more than a few.

  2. Unfortunately, it's really hard to proofread your own stuff because you know what it's supposed to say. So, I've had a few rather funny typos on my blog. Things like \”bother-in-law\” and \”pubic schools\”… [cough] yeah. ~Luke

  3. I can't talk because I am very bad at proofreading (you might notice that on my posts),and it took me a while to get some of these, but my husband who is a very precise person really liked this.
